How to enter

Every month, we will pick a random 6-digit Lucky Number which is displayed on our competition page for all to see. To enter the competition, all you have to do is log in via your Devtalk account and receive your weekly entry which is a randomly-generated entry number.

You can obtain a new entry number each week. At the end of the month, if any of your numbers turns out to be closest to that month's Lucky Number, you win!

To make things more exciting, every now and then, we will announce special bonus days. These are days when you will be able to obtain a bonus entry into the competition. Some of these bonus entries will have a condition, such as first needing to make a post on the forum, or following or mentioning us (or Linux New Media!) on social media. As long as you have met the criteria, you can get your bonus entry. Bonus days will be announced on the forum so be sure to regularly log in!

Terms

  1. Twelve competitions will be held throughout 2026. Each competition will run from the first day of the calendar month until the last day of the calendar month.
  2. Entry to the competition is restricted to one entry per person per week plus any additional qualifying bonus entries announced by the competition administrators.
  3. Entry to the competition is limited to one person per household.
  4. Automated entries, bulk entries or third party entries will be disqualified.
  5. To obtain a weekly entry you just need to have posted that week. Bonus entries may be subject to special conditions which you will be required to meet before you submit your entry. Failure to meet these criteria or conditions in a legitimate manner and any attempts at cheating will result in instant disqualification from the competition.
  6. Any suspicious entries or user accounts will be disqualified at the forum administrator's discretion. This includes members holding multiple accounts on the Devtalk. If more than one person is entering the competition from your IP please let us know in advance (we will require photo verification of each participant in this case).
  7. The prize consists of a digital special edition that has been published by Linux New Media.
  8. No cash alternatives will be offered.
  9. The competition organiser reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute any prize with cash or a prize of comparable value.
  10. Entrants must be aged 16 or over.
  11. If you are a winner you will be required to provide your full name, country of residence and a suitable email address so that this can be passed on to Linux New Media to send you your prize. Failure to provide your details within 21 days of us sending you a PM message on the forum to request this information will result in your disqualification as a winner. Please note it can take up to 21 days to send you your prize.
  12. The forum username of all winners will be displayed on our website forum.devtalk.com and may be used by Linux New Media for promotional reasons.
  13. The Judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.
  14. If you are a competition winner, you acknowledge and agree that neither forum.devtalk.com or Linux New Media or any of their employees, agents or subcontractors shall have any liability to you whatsoever in connection with your use and/or possession of your prize, provided that nothing in these competition terms shall exclude or limit the liability of any party for personal injury or death caused by negligence or for anything else which cannot be excluded or limited by law.
  15. Each user may win the competition only once.
  16. In the event of a tie, the user whose entry was made first will win.
  17. Devtalk is compliant with the Data Protection Act. No personal data is collected as a result of participating in this competition beyond winners' names, country of residence and email addresses which are required for delivery of prizes. Linux New Media will record the winner as an order in its fulfilment systems.
  18. These rules may be updated at any time, in which case the latest version will apply.
  19. The competition prize is subject to Linux New Media's usual terms and conditions.
